Strategic Prayer for Citywide Mission Mobilization & Networking The following subjects for prayer may or may not be a reality in your city yet. Your prayers will either help birth significant movement towards mission awareness and involvement within each arena, or will help sustain and further mission vision and activity where it already has been birthed. By praying for one item each day you will cover the entire list twice per month. 1. Christian Networking—Pray for an overall networking of the Body of Christ for your city... that it will be expressed in whatever ways God would be pleased to bring His people together. 2. Prayer Networking—Pray for prayer networking to be raised up for your city or strengthened and expanded where it exists. Ask God to awaken prayer leaders to God's missionary heart and to the missionary purposes of the Church so that their prayers are not just for your city to be blessed but that your city would also be a blessing to the nations. 3. Mission Mobilization Networking—Pray for God to raise up and bring together visionaries and implementors who will pray, plan and work together for your city to be networked for missions and resulting in the following possibilities: Perspectives Classes, mission roundtables, seminars and conferences, trained missions consultants, missionary care networking, international student reps, campus reps & networkers, and any other kind of ministry and representative that would assist the churches and campuses of your city in understanding and embracing the great commission. 4. Churches—Ask God to bless missions-active churches in your city with wise, discerning and Spirit-led leadership. Pray also that God would inspire these same churches to encourage one another and to discover opportunities to do mission together, locally and globally. Pray also for all the churches in your city that still have a "candle stick" (See Revelation 2:5), to be granted revival, and a fresh vision for world evangelization. Finally, pray that every mission-active church would discover and participate in the emerging or already existing citywide missions network. 5. Pastors—Pray for the pastors of your city (and future pastors) to be: blessed, filled with servant hearts, filled with the Spirit and the Word, devoted to prayer, awakened to the missionary purposes of the Church, recognizing the local church as the "seed bed" of missions and embracing their support and vision-casting roles as essential to their flock's understanding and walking out their World Christian discipleship. 6. Missions Pastors—Pray for the mission pastors of your city to be blessed, filled with servant hearts, filled with the Spirit and the Word, devoted to prayer, equipped in the fundamentals of local church missions, well connected to the needs of their church's missionaries and to the needs of the Global Outreach Team, well read in mission, current in mission strategies and global trends, and strongly connected to the mission leaders' network of your city. 7. Christian Universities—Pray for the Christian Universities of your city to be blessed with anointed, on-fire faculty, staff and student leadership that recognize the centrality of missions and give priority to equipping students in discovering and practically living out the great commission. Pray that these students would be providentially plugged into good churches that can also help them do the same. 8. Campus Ministries—Pray for every private college and state university to be blessed with campus ministries that are manned by servant-hearted missions activists, full of the Holy Spirit and overflowing with a winsome, compelling zeal for God's glory among all peoples. 9. Mission Agencies— Pray for mission agencies to dedicate resources and personnel for engaging the mission networking that either already exists in your city, or that emerges as a result of prayer. Pray for all mission agency representatives located in your city to be blessed with wisdom and skillful insights into local church mission needs. Pray also that they will be led to prayerfully pursue younger leadership to partner with as they reach out to both finishers and the emerging generations--and, pray with them (for the raising up of younger leaders). 10. Mission Consultants—Pray for God to raise up quality mission consultants for the churches and campus ministries of your city, to coach and encourage church and campus leaders as they seek to mobilize those under their care. 11. Perspectives Coordinator(s)—Pray for God to raise up a team or teams of coordinators (if your city is so large that it needs multiple class locations). If your city already has classes being held annually, ask God to bless, uphold, add to and create a strong sense of cooperation and unity amongst the coordinator team(s). 12. Perspectives Class(es)—Pray for God to cause the word to spread from person to person and church to church regarding Perspectives and how to take the class. Ask Him to open the hearts of church leaders and missions team leaders to see the strategic role of Perspectives to the end that they greatly promote the class among their members. 13. Perspectives Alumni—Pray that alumni would be greatly blessed to discover and walk out their unique roles in the great commission. Ask God to help them to be strongly integrated into their church's missions involvement and that He would also energize them to help their families, friends and fellow church members to catch, build and run with a vision for world evangelization. 14. Community-wide Mission Events - Pray the Lord provides leadership to organize Conferences and Events to bless your greater community to bring together the body of Christ and Church Leaders to focus on being fully engaged in the Great Commission. Whether citywide or regional, these events are informational, inspirational and an excellent place to network with experts and local like-minded people with a heart for world evangelization. These powerful events could be recognized, funded and utilized by citywide mission networks as a key part of their mobilization strategy. 15. Missionary Pre-Candidates—Pray that God would providentially connect every missionary pre-candidate in your city with godly mission-active pastors, missionaries (retired or on home assignment), mission mobilizers and activists who can mentor and encourage them all along the way to the field. Pray that God would also help these candidates to find each other to form Pre-Candidate Fellowships for mutual encouragement and learning. Finally, pray that these candidates would be connected with strategic opportunities that would most hasten the reaching of the least reached and unreached peoples of the world.
