HARVEST-LINKED PRAYER STRATEGY INITIATIVE
A twelve-month prayer initiative beginning June 2006 and ending May 2007, focusing
on the Least Reached Peoples of each of 12 geographic regions month-by-month beginning
in the east and moving westward. Ethnê is built on the momentum of the AD2000
Movement and the 2001 Great Commission Roundtable meeting and the Singapore02
meeting. It is the official UPG network or "intersection" for three
global Christian movements: the Lausanne Congress on World Evangelization, the
World Evangelical Alliance Mission Commission and Transform World.

For today's hyperactive missions leaders, apart from opening and closing meetings, saying grace at the table or as a special consolation in time of emergency or stress, prayer is most often treated as a harmless pastime rather than a strategic weapon. In our attitude we often relegate it to the likes of doting old ladies who have nothing better to do with the autumn time of life. Certainly for most mission leaders, prayer does not seem to be where the action is, otherwise wouldn't we be giving it far more attention in our busy lives? (Read more)

WHATEVER HAPPENED TO THE PRAYER MEETING? by Georger Verwer
Samuel Chadwick, one of God’s great men of past years, taught that Satan’s greatest aim is to destroy our prayer lives. Satan is not afraid of prayerless study, prayerless work or prayerless religion – but he will tremble when we pray. If Chadwick was correct (and many other great men of God have said similar things), then we have a problem. If there is any part of our church life that seems to be in trouble, it is the prayer meeting. THE VITAL FORCE OF MISSIONARY INTERCESSION by Robert Hall Glover
The most vital consideration in missions is not method, money, or even men, but it is God himself and His working, and it is prayer which brings the revelation of God and calls forth His working. However, praying is never a substitute for going in the case of those who are qualified and able to go. In other words, going, giving, and praying are not three different options which the individual Christian may pick from according to their personal preference. Nor will any amount of giving or praying fulfill the Great Commission to evangelize the world apart from going. The command is "Go, preach"! But those who cannot "Go" in person can still "Go" by prayer...
